Islander Noosa Resort Review

The Islander Noosa Resort is located on Gympie Terrace, Noosaville. It's about a one and a half hour drive from Brisbane Airport along the Bruce Highway.  The Noosa River is just across the road and the resort is surrounded by restaurants.  There's a large shopping complex and hotel within easy walking distance as well as a McDonalds and Red Rooster take aways.  The resort is set in a tropical garden atmosphere, with three pools, a barbeque area next to the larger pool, tennis court, games room and gymnasium.

Accommodation
Islnder Noosa Resort Front view The accommodation at the Islander Noosa Resort is a choice of two or three bedroom self-contained units. We stayed in a two-bedroom unit. Downstairs consisted of the kitchen, lounge and dining, a separate laundry and toilet and a patio area. There was a TV and video, full cooking facilities with a microwave and dishwasher, washer and dryer and plenty of room to move about. Upstairs there was two bedrooms, the master with a queen size bed and the other bedroom with two single beds. The upstairs bathroom had a bath and shower. The rooms weren't air conditioned but there were ceiling fans in each bedroom and one downstairs. This low-rise type accommodation is perfect for kids. No corridors or flights of stairs to negotiate, just walk straight out onto a path that winds its way through tropical landscaped gardens to the pool.

Pools
Islander Noosa Resort pool There were three pools to pick from throughout the resort. Two smaller pools, one of which was heated, and a large lagoon style pool on two levels with waterfalls, a shallow area for the kids and two hot spas. The area around the pool was small, with the length of a sun lounge taking all the space between the pool fence and the pool edge. Also there were only about a dozen sun lounges around the pool (no more could fit) so you needed to be quick to secure one. The pool surrounds consisted of a lot of rocky type landscaping, which looks great but is not very kid friendly.

Activities
Islander Noosa Resort Games room The Islander Noosa Resort has two tennis courts with racquet and ball hire available, a well-equipped gymnasium, a games room with a pool table and two saunas. Next to the main pool is a barbeque area with three barbeques and plenty of seating. The resort is opposite the Noosa river and there are plenty of places to hire boats, surf skis, catamarans etc. There's a kids playground just down the road. The beach at Noosa Heads is about ten minutes away by car or you can catch a ferry ride across the road from the resort.

Restaurants
Unbelievable choice of quality restaurants within easy walking distance of the resort. Some are as close as ten or twenty metres from you front door. There's also McDonalds and Red Rooster take aways within walking distance and the Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club is a ten-minute walk. Noosa Harbour is about five minutes away by car and features some good places to eat.

Cost
For the seven nights we stayed it cost a little over $600 for two adults and two kids in a two-bedroom unit. The check in time is 1pm and the check out time is 10am. You may be able to negotiate a later check out time if the resort isn't full.

Summary
A quality resort at a reasonable price. The low-rise accommodation is perfect for kids and plenty of pools to pick from. The larger pool was a favourite with the kids and the games room was also very popular. Everything is within easy walking distance so a car is not a necessity. The only negative we found was the area around the pool. The lack of air conditioning may pose a problem in the hotter months, but the rooms are very spacious so the ceiling fans may do the job. Definitely a resort we'd go back to.
