We've just returned from Magnetic Island and found the island a real
unexpected gem. As an island with a living functional community, it caters for
tourist and residents alike. There is a wide variety of activities and too many
spots on the island to discover and explore fully in just over a week. The
Island Leisure Resort in Nelly Bay is run in a friendly, jovial but efficient
manner by Chris and Tana Gooch. They are always willing to help with advice on
eating spots, local knowledge, travel tips etc. The facilities at the resort are
first rate with a wonderful rock pool, tennis court, games room and tropical
gardens. The self catering rooms are massive, but virtually all in one, with the
bunk beds for the children in a corner which can be visually partitioned. We'd
thoroughly recommend this destination and venue for family holidays.
