South Molle has seen its best days many years ago, but there are still some good points. Since the 2004 review here it is evident there has been very little or no maintenance and the whole place has a seedy run-down air.
Most of the rooms are now unused, and the beachfront rooms seemed to be the only ones occupied to us. Our room was really below par with no telephone or clock, and a very old saggy bed, however good A/C and fan. The bathroom door fell off the wall!! Other guests reported the same, and there was much swapping of rooms.
The best deal is full board, all meals, as there is a lot of variety, however hot food was mostly luke-warm. Drinks are average resort price, $5-$6, cocktails from $14.
The golf course is maintained and quite playable, even having par-4 holes. The bushwalking is very good, and true coral can be found by snorkellers. Golf clubs, stinger suits and snorkel gear are provided free.
Many of the activities advertised by this resort simply did not exist, with no kid's club, playground, massages, spa, jet skis, tube rides, archery, or glass bottom boat. Check on these before booking. The pool is good, with a 2.5m deep end. Watch the kids.
We were told by staff the resort will be renovated in Feb 09, and after that will become a backpacker island, so it might again rage. It presently suits those who want to swim, golf, bushwalk, read a book, have quiet evenings, and who don't mind a few loose bits in the room.

We have just returned from spending 7 nights on South Molle Island. With 2 children aged 4 and 6 the facilities and size of island were just right for us. Not too much walking involved for the children and plenty of activities to keep them busy. The girls in the kids club were fantastic as were all the staff on the island. They made you feel like you should be there and would always stop for a chat. It is only 3 and half star so dont expect anything too fancy for the accommodation but you dont spend too long in the room anyway. Our kids wanted to be at the pool for the most of the day or in the kids club. They have a special childrens menu for the evening meal if they are fussy eaters and an early sitting time also. Meals are great with a different theme every night with a different show on at night after dinner. Whether it be a polynesian night, movies, trivia or wooden horse racing. We joined in with most nights and they always include the children with the activities.  There is plenty to fill in your day with fish feeding and bird feeding, sailing, watersports, lazing by the pool and many other activities that they put on during the day.We would definitely go back and will take some friends with us next time too. Its great value for money and make sure that you take the full board package. Our children enjoyed themselves as did we, and we have come home relaxed and destressed. Time to start planning the next one now!
